Privacy Policy

Eclipse (“we”, “us”) builds a Chrome extension that applies a dark theme to the pages you browse. The free tier works entirely on your device with no account and nothing sent to us. We are privacy-first: Eclipse never reads, stores, or transmits the content of the pages you visit.
1. What we collect
Nothing is collected unless you create a Pro account. If you do, we collect the minimum necessary:
- Email address — to create your account and send magic-link sign-in emails.
- Device ID — a random identifier generated by the extension so you can view and revoke your own signed-in devices.
- Subscription data — your plan and status, so the extension knows which features to unlock. We never see or store your card details.
- Synced settings (optional) — if you use Pro sync, your theme adjustments, per-site overrides, and custom themes are stored so they carry across your devices. This is your Eclipse configuration, not your browsing history or page content.
2. What we do NOT collect
- The content of any page you browse, or the text/images rendered on it.
- Your browsing history — Eclipse only knows the current tab's origin, to apply your per-site settings, and does not log or transmit it.
- Payment card details — these are handled entirely by our payment processor, Dodo Payments.
3. How we use your data
We use the data above only to provide the service: authenticate you, validate your license, let you manage your signed-in devices, and sync your theme settings if you opt in. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
4. Legal basis (GDPR)
We process account and license data to perform our contract with you (providing the Pro service). We do not send marketing email.
5. Sub-processors
We share the minimum data needed with trusted providers:

6. Data retention
- Account and subscription data is kept while your account exists.
- Billing records are retained as required by tax law.
- On account deletion, all personal data — license, device activations, synced settings, and custom themes — is deleted immediately, followed by your authentication record.
7. Your rights
You can, at any time:
- Access / export your data — from the extension's Options page, or by email request.
- Delete your account and all associated data, irreversibly — from the extension's Options page, or by email request.
8. Cookies
The website uses only an essential authentication session — no advertising or tracking cookies, so no cookie banner is required.
9. Children
The service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
10. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above.
